As some of y’all may know from last year, we host a HUGE Thanksgiving. Big menu, lots of food, lots of people…lots of preparation and lots of stress. My mom always hosts it and this year we’re having 22 people. (My aunt’s family of course takes up over a third of that 😉 ) I thought it would be fun to show you guys some of the stuff we’re doing to prepare right now. The countdown is currently 1 week, 2 days, so things are getting crazier and crazier!
I guess one of my favorite things about Thanksgiving is food. I mean, come on, there’s so much of it! Our menu, as I described in my last Countdown to Thanksgiving post, is quite elaborate. My mom and aunt like to have enough leftovers to last a week! And most of the time, we do. Every Thanksgiving we try to source as much as we can organic or from our farm, but this year our theme is farm-to-table. Which means that even more of our farm veggies will be present at dinner! We’re even going to have a venison shepherd’s pie – from our own deer. How about that? Nice, I know.
Each season seems to have a few slight differences in its makeup and skincare routines. Fall and winter, I think, are more radically different from spring and summer because of the drastic change in humidity and temperature, at least where I live. It’s been a while since I did a makeup/skincare post, and since our weather has changed a lot and I’m using different products, I thought it would be fun talk about the items I’m using this time of year. Our weather, especially now, has been incredibly dry (we’re actually in a severe drought which is really unusual as it normally rains 3-4 times a week) for a month and a half so it’s been an interesting transit to using products that provide more moisture.
I apologize for saying this is nutritional. Unfortunately it really is good for you. I hate eating things that are healthy. But…sometimes, well, almost all of the time you have to eat healthy, good-for-you foods. Even though this oatmeal is very nutritional (Your mom will definitely approve of this recipe!), it actually tastes really good! The yogurt gives it a nice creamy texture while the apple gives it a nice freshness and crunch.
