This lovely family contacted me for family pictures soon after I did the St. Jacques. Karen and her husband are moving out of the area and wanted some photos in places that are close to their hearts, after raising their four children in the area. We had so much fun! They were so low-key and willing to do whatever I asked. We took these pictures at their beautiful colonial home in Hendersonville. It has so many lovely backgrounds, I think I should do all my family sessions there!
This sweet family was up for anything when we went to do their family pictures at one of my favorite urban locations in Asheville, NC! They posed so easily and naturally that it was a joy to photograph them. The kids were lots of fun to work with too – Elias was so dapper and handsome with his gelled hair and little Avonley was so precious – but I will tell you, it was super hard to get her to smile! We faced beautiful low 70’s weather that morning and it was delightful to have cooler weather compared to some of the warm temperatures we’ve had so far.
When the Mitchell family told me that they wanted to do a “10 years later” theme for their family shoot in Asheville, NC, I was super excited! Jenna had the idea to use a chalkboard sign, and the results turned out adorable. We met up just outside of Asheville at my favorite nature background location – a farm I’ve used for several shoots. (Like Caroline’s!) Unfortunately, the skies were threatening rain the whole time we were shooting – and it had previously poured twice! But, we made it through 45 minutes before it started raining again. It even sprinkled in the middle of the shoot, but we all cheerfully held picnic blankets and lighting reflectors over our heads while waiting for the rain to pass.
Not too long after launching Aria Photo, this sweet girl’s dad contacted me about a photoshoot for her for her ninth birthday. He told me that she loved baking, and we decided to do some baking photos (and other photos) at their home in Asheville, NC. She made some cupcakes while I was there, and we got some really great pictures of her baking! Emma was so much fun – she was full of ideas for props and posed so easily and naturally. Plus I am amazed at how much she knows about baking at only nine years old – seriously? She is so talented!
This girl and I have been friends for a loooong time! We both sing in the same choir that gathers at a church in Asheville with beautiful flowering trees. A year ago, I asked her if I could take her pictures and she happily complied. We first wanted to get some golden-hour pictures on a farm in Mills River, but the day we had chosen turned out cloudy! However, we did end up getting some good pictures! Caroline has such an energetic, happy personality and is so much fun to be around – not to mention photograph! I think onlookers would have giggled to see us suddenly burst out into laughter or launch into “Singin’ in the Rain” when I brought out one of my props, a green umbrella.
After doing Hannah’s pictures, her friend Joanna from Greenville contacted me. I knew right off that Joanna, who told me she played basketball and volleyball, would be perfect for an urban background. She was game for the idea, so I started doing some scouting. Years before, we had lived in Biltmore Park, a rather large community in South Asheville with residential homes, stores, and restaurants.
