2019 Year in Review

aria-photo-3

What a year this has been.

This year has been the best and most life-changing year of my life. 2018, if you’ll remember from my review last year, was one of the hardest years of my life. These past two years have changed my life in so many ways. But 2019? Definitely the most life-changing. AND I’M NOT SURE WHERE TO START, HELP. What. A. Year.

I decided to go read my review posts from last year, and that helped. OH MY, how things have changed! I’m awfully glad I don’t know the future before it happens. I would never have the strength or the mental capacity to comprehend it all! I can hardly comprehend what I DO know. It’s always so crazy to me to do reviews and see just how much has changed! How I grew, how I achieved goals. I shall do my best today to look back on the highlights of 2019.

We started going to a church in our area, and, we’ve been going all year! We’re hoping to become members in March, and we really like it.

We sold our calf Babybel, got another milk cow, and had another baby calf born. :) We also got a new cat and lost a cat.

I started working as a second-shooter for another photographer, and shot two weddings with her.

I sort of redid my room. 😀

I met Andrew and we entered into a courtship together (and succeeded in taking very awkward-looking pictures until we got engaged).

My mother and best friend semi-successfully surprised me for my birthday when I turned 18 in August!

Allison visited me twice. 😀 I made new friends in the area, Cecelia and Monica, got a lot closer with my friend Sam, met my email pal Cailyn in person and saw her twice, and stepped out of my comfort zone to go to a young adult dinner all by myself. *thumps self on back*

I shot:

  • 2 weddings
  • 2 portfolio-building styled shoots
  • 3 shoots for friends
  • 2 shoots for my cousins
  • 2 family parties
  • 1 proposal
  • 1 bridal shoot
  • 7 paid shoots
  • and booked 2 weddings and 3 shoots for 2020!

This was the busiest year for my business! I also changed the style of my photography to having more soft, muted greens to imitate more of a fine art, film style. I also took a course on fine art school photography, which I think will assist me well next year!

I. GOT. ENGAGED. Which also means I fell in love with my future husband. Whichever way, it’s both crazy.

I crossed the Mississippi River for the very first time to visit Andrew and meet some of his family, including 2 of my 3 future sisters-in-law and my future nephew. O.o

I taught 35 violin lessons to my fabulous friend Amie.

I started a new business and failed at it. (Whoops, I guess that wasn’t a highlight? XD)

My family vacationed to Amelia Island for our last trip as the four of us and also got our family pictures done by the amazing Natalie Broach!

And that, my friends, was my year. It was the best year of my life. Yes, I had failure. I struggled at times. But overall, it was amazing. My heart aches as I read how this year hasn’t been amazing – has been awful – for many others. And that makes me want to shut up about how amazing my year was. I feel like I don’t deserve it – you know what? I don’t deserve any of this at all. God has given me so many blessings I don’t know exactly what to do with but I JUST FALL ON MY KNEES AND PRAISE HIM. 2018? One of my hardest years. Nothing compared to what others have dealt with. This year was my blessing, my “joy comes in the morning”. For that, I am forever grateful. Please know that after hardship comes blessings. Sometimes it takes a while. Sometimes you just don’t know what to do for a while. But God will bless us. He will bless us daily in this life, and He blesses us even more after this life is over. That’s when the reward really comes. The reward we don’t deserve for accepting His gift and following Him.

Thank you all for being a part of my life! As 2020 and some major life changes come up, I’m so thankful to have you all following along. Your support means so much and I love my little community. :) Happy New Year! <3
