Hey, you guys! Guess what? I’m finally posting the pictures from when Allison was here! (GUYS, she was here A MONTH AGO. What happened?) Anyway, I’m super excited for this post because we’re also finally doing a Q&A together! We’ve had this idea for seriously…months. Actually, ever since before I went to her house. O.o Y’all gave us some great questions, and we had such a fun time answering them!
Just a warning – we had to narrow down the questions to 30 total, and they’re in no particular order. (Actually, they’re really randomized, sorry!) Half are here on my blog, and the other half are here on Allison’s blog! Also, the pictures of the two of us were taken by the lovely Hannah! The ones of Allison I took, and if you want to see some more, go here to my photo website. 😉
1. How did you guys become such best friends?
Allison: Well, we met through blogging, and Aria started emailing me, then writing letters as well. For me at least, it’s easier to talk about deeper subjects through writing, and we sure did – not just “how’s the weather,” but “what do you believe about this and this and this?” We got to know each other very well because both of us enjoy talking about “real” subjects. Over the past year especially, we’ve both gone through SO many huge changes and situations that were made lighter by being able to share them with each other. And I think that’s why we’re best friends – because we can tell each other anything. <3
Aria: I guess it was after discovering how much we had in common and talking just about every day that we got pretty close, and then I went through a series of hard times and Allison really stuck with me, listened to me, prayed for me, and offered her best advice…I realized she was my best friend, and I’ve tried to be everything to her that she was to me. And since then we’ve just only gotten closer. 💕
2. What is your least favorite color?
Allison: It used to be army/olive green, but… I have a shirt I really like in that color, so maybe orange or black? Orange in nature (like in sunsets, leaves, flowers, etc.) is perfectly alright, but as a flat color, it’s not my favorite. Mostly I just like colors.
Aria: Burnt orange. *shudders*
3. Donkeys or horses?
Allison: Probably donkeys. Horses are too high maintenance for me. :’D I do think horses are much more beautiful and refined than donkeys, but donkeys are rather cute. 😉
Aria: I like horses fine, but donkeys are adorable.
4. Did you both get matching hairstyles on purpose?
Allison: Ha ha, funny story… I’d been thinking about cutting my hair short sometime, so when Aria did, I decided this was a great opportunity to have mine cut and surprise her! Good gracious, you have no idea how hard it was to keep that a secret. O.o It was worth it to see how surprised she was, though! XD
Aria: Well, I had no idea Allison was cutting her hair, so no on my part! (Still can’t believe she did that. 😮)
5. If you could live anywhere in the world and money wasn’t a problem, where would it be?
Allison: Somewhere on a farm, near my friends and family. I’m not desperate to travel the world or live in some famous city. As long as I can still be a farm girl with the people I love around me, I don’t care how tiny the town is.
Aria: At this point in my life, and Lord willing – I’d never live anywhere but here. I love my farm!
6. How often do you guys talk to each other?
Allison: Heh, a lot. Aria usually sends me several email threads a day, some of which contain 1000+ words. So… she ends up talking to me more often than I get around to talking to her. XD XD SHE TYPES SO FAST. But yeah, we talk almost every day, if not quite. It’s basically like having a long-distance sister. *nods*
Aria: We email nearly every day, and sometimes I’ll randomly call Allison, and sometimes we video chat.
7. Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Allison: Hopefully I’ll be married with kids. I also hope I’ll still be able to use my creativity and the gifts God has given me for a good purpose. (And it wouldn’t hurt if it was for money too. 😛 )
Aria: I’ve learned that I have no idea what my future holds. God likes to put plot twists in the story of my life! If I were the author of my life story, I’d put myself married with kids and a successful side-photography-business, living here on the farm in my dream home – but I honestly don’t know. That is my dream, though. 😊
8. Do you want to keep your hair shoulder length?
Allison: I’m not sure about long-term, but yes, I do want to keep it shorter for a good little while, at least. (That… was vague.)
Aria: I’m not sure. I might for a while. I like the ease.
9. What is your favorite time of year to photograph?
Allison: Maybe fall. That clear, golden autumn light… But I take a TON of pictures in spring too, when I’ve had my fill of chilly winter grays and whites and I’m eager for color and life.
Aria: Every season has its beauty. But I’d have to say summer. It’s my favorite season anyway, and everything is so lush!
10. Favorite food?
Allison: Oh dear. Well, I shan’t play favorites. I love crab, fish, 98-100% of fruit, spinach, cheese, and chocolate (duh). That’s a VERY small list, but this post is long enough. XD Let’s just say I’m not a picky eater. 😉
Aria: Probably some kind of French pastry, or mashed potatoes. And pie.
11. If you were going to a concert or other fancy event, would you wear high heels or flats?
Allison: NO HIGH HEELS. 1) I’m 5′ 10,” so I don’t need any extra height. 2) They seem uncomfortable. 3) I’m not really into fancy wardrobes, although pretty dresses are fun. So I’d wear flats. 😉
Aria: Definitely high heels! I only have one pair of flats. XD (Well. Farm boots don’t count as flats.)
12. What is one thing you really want to learn how to do?
Allison: I’d love to learn ASL or Morse Code! Also I should really learn to tailor clothes since I have a hard time finding clothes that fit well. *shakes head* Oh, and I ALSO want to learn how to use the skidloader properly so I can load hay when we’re rebaling. 😉 (I’M SORRY THAT WASN’T ONE THING I’M TERRIBLE AT THIS.)
Aria: I’ve always been interested in acting, videography, and learning to play other musical instruments, like the harp or the cello. Nothing is super pressing, though – generally if I really want to learn something, I do.
13. Biggest argument?
Allison: We have a lot of debates, but we don’t really argue… we’re both kinda laid-back, I guess? I don’t know. Anyway. Umm… whether one should eat organic hot dogs at a campfire? XD Just kidding. But yeah, probably something to do with food. *blinks*
Aria: We never argue very much, and we’ve never had the kind of argument where we stopped talking to each other. Neither of us are like that and I’ve never had that kind of argument with anyone anyway. I think our most ongoing arguments have been on music, food (growing/eating organically), and Christmas. Most of the time we agree to disagree because we generally agree on pretty much everything.
14. What is your favorite book of the Bible?
Allison: Ahh, this is always a hard one! I have a bunch, but Psalms and Romans are both wonderful! The first is so beautiful, and the second is full of deep meaning and theology.
Aria: Definitely Romans. I love that book! Practically the entire thing is underlined in my Bible! XD
15. Do you prefer to sing or play instruments?
Allison: I dunno, it depends. I guess I’d rather play piano for myself, but sing for others. I really like both, though.
Aria: Singing. I love singing. But I also really love playing guitar. Probably because I sing with it..? 😉
And…that’s it! Y’all, head over to Alison’s blog to read the other 15 questions (and see HER pictures of the trip)! And to Penelope, Sam, Clara, Liz, Catharine, Sassafras, Hannah and Megan – thank you all so much for the amazing questions! We had a blast answering them. 😊
OH YES, AND – happy day-after-Thanksgiving! Otherwise known as Black Friday or Shop With Frenzied People in Leftover Food Coma. Or something like that. XD
