I am currently sitting in bed and watching rain pour down outside my window. Before I get poetical (those bursts of poeticalness are downright scary, y’all), let me tell you that all the weather has done this July has rained. And rained, and rained. And of course, all the other time it’s really hot – especially during planting. We’ve planted the whole winter garden and the whole time it has been hot. Seriously every day this month we’ve gotten a rain shower.
After that rant about the weather, I think it’s probably time I get down to business and talk about this month’s goals.
#1 Focus on serving others – I’ve worked really hard this month on this goal, by serving the family in the garden; my aunt in her house and I think I have completed it!
#2 Complete half of my bucket list – I am very, very sorry to say that this goal did not work out. I only completed five goals this month. I failed miserably. (I even bought a different backpack than the one on my bucket list!)
#3 Carry out goals #2, #3, and #4 of June’s goals – Nope. Okay, I managed to stay organized pretty well, but waking up early? Ugh nope. I literally wake up half an hour before I have to be in the garden. I NEED TO FIX THIS SO BAD. And I’ve flopped at gratitude journaling…Now I’m just regular journaling.
#4 Set daily goals – I can truthfully say that I have done pretty well with this one. I didn’t set goals every single day, but I’ve completed this, I think. It makes it easier to sit down at night and think over the next day. I set appropriate goals for that day, depending on how busy I’ll be.
#5 Get back on track with Duolingo! Once I finally set my mind to it (which was what, I think 5 days into July…) I did it. I started learning on the fifth of July and then kept it up for fourteen more days…and then I flopped. I got busy. (But I can proudly say that I am 17% fluent in Italian!) But I did complete this goal because for the majority of the month (okay half) I did work hard on it.
THIS MONTH’S GOALS
1# Study through 1st and 2nd Corinthians – On my bucket list was to study Colossians this summer, and last month I completed it! Now I’m going to work through 1st and 2nd Corinthians.
2# Write another book review – I had on my bucket list to write a short story this summer and I just don’t think that’s going to happen. I am, however, going to make it my goal this month to write another book review. I already have the book in mind that I am going to do…
3# Finish my American History textbook and Masterpieces from World Literature book – My friend Carlee loaned me an A Beka Book called Masterpieces from World Literature: Classics for Christians Vol. 2 and it is really good! But tedious. It starts out with the very beginning of literature, so it’s heavy reading, but I need to get through it. And then, of course, I need to finish reading my textbook for a preview to US History this fall.
4# Finish my skirt and start working on this jumper – This skirt has taken me forever and I have half done. I just need to sit down and work on it, so I need to do that this month and start on this adorable jumper.
And so there are my goals for the last full summer month! I can’t believe how fast it’s flown by. What are your goals this month?
