My long-awaited post is here. I am (I just typed ham! Ooh, ham. Ham.) so glad. It took me long enough, but I’ve finally got these products reviewed! Let’s dive in, shall we?
*Disclaimer: This post is not sponsored. I have chosen a few specific products to try and was pleased with them. You should chose makeup based on your skin tone and what your prefer – what works for me may or may not work for you.*
When I first get ready to put my makeup in the morning, I start by washing my face with a microfiber cloth. Afterwards, I use a primer. I am currently looking for an organic foundation primer at present that is affordable, so I suggest spraying your face with this makeup setting spray. I ordered it from Amazon and was very pleased. It has all sorts of really good ingredients in it and seems to work pretty well.
Then I put on about a dime-sized amount of CC Cream. This one by Physician’s Formula is my favorite – I can’t stop singing its praises. It has a nice light coverage, and I apply a little extra under my eyes and on acne. It also has an SPF of 20 which makes it ideal for summer.
After that, I dust my face with powder (also shown in this post) which just happens to be my favorite powder as well. I apply a little more under my eyes and on acne, and then I’m good to go for the base.
One of the reasons it took me so long to do this post is because I especially wanted to review this mascara. Water-resistant mascara is important for me because of farm work, but you never know what else you might need it for.(er…crying over a movie, anyone?) We WILL be working and a rainstorm will come up – been there, done that. Water on your glasses is bad enough, but to have mascara dripping down your face…is just ughly awful. (And yes, I wear makeup whilst doing farm work.) I am happy to say that this mascara is really really good. I did do a test run – I rubbed my eyes – and it didn’t smear. Also, even though I didn’t have a downpour of rain, I wore it in the shower and it held up pretty well too. Here’s a tip – waterproof/resistant mascara can be a BEAR to get off – use almond or coconut oil. It works magic.
It does not give much volume, if you’re looking for volume, but it does give length, and overall, it’s a four & 1/2 star mascara.
Then I add (for church or outings) bronzer and blush. I have really fallen in love with bronzer – I love how it gives my pale complexion just a bit of color and glow. I am using this bronzer from Physician’s Formula, and while it is a little bit better suited for those who have a more olive complexion, it works quite for me too.
I’ve also tested this blush from Pacifica and I love it as well. It is very pretty, sparkles a bit, and has a peach undertone. As is the bronzer, the blush is better suited for a more olive toned skin, but it works well for me. The only downside I have is that it is quite small – but Pacifica stuff is high quality and I’m not using it every day, so I’m fine with that.
Finally, after doing your face, spray it with a makeup setting spray. I’ve seen these get popular and wanted to try one out. As I said before, I’m very pleased with this one. My makeup will stay on for at least 14 hours – I haven’t tried any longer. I didn’t review any lip products this month, but I think I’m going to test a couple for fall. Also, I love Kiss My Face’s sunscreen! Ours is really old, but I have used it and it doesn’t give me any breakouts like another sunscreen I used.
Something I didn’t do in my spring makeup is talk about nail polish. What I love about summer is all the bright nails that one can’t do in fall! A couple years ago, I had a really bright fluorescent pink nail polish called Dreamsicle. I loved it and wore it all the time! Well, a while ago, my mom purchased this nail polish from Pacifica called Fluorescent Sunset that she was going to do her toes with. It turned out a bit too bright for her and I confiscated it. It’s a very pretty bright coral and one of my favorite summer colors!
And there’s my summer makeup routine!
