OOTM // May 2016

Guess what? It’s time for Outfit Of The Month! I have been so excited to do this. There are actually quite a few outfits I’d like to do, and it was really hard to pick. I still couldn’t pick just one, so I decided to do 1 Skirt, 2 Ways. I’m going to show you how I like to wear a denim skirt – in a casual, “just going shopping” look, and a more classic look. Shall we begin?

So this is the first look. The skirt is a light, minty-aqua denim a-line skirt from Talbots. When this skirt went on sale I went crazy because just look at that gorgeous, springy color! I knew I would wear it all the time. I paired it with a J. Crew Perfect Fit tee in this really bright yellow. I love J. Crew Perfect Fit tees. They’re really the only fitted tees that work for me. Because skinny jeans have become so popular, it’s really hard to find fitted tees because the flowy tees go really well with skinny jeans. But because I don’t wear skinny jeans, or pants, it can be hard to find good tops that go with my skirts. J. Crew tees are rather expensive, but we always snatch them up when they’re on sale.

The navy cardigan I found at our local J. Crew outlet. Have I ever mentioned that navy is my favorite neutral color? It goes with everything, but it’s still a color, not a shade as black, gray, and white are. Anyway, when we were at the outlet, we discovered that they had a really good sale on the cardigans. So I grabbed some. Then my mom found some that were even more discounted – and were ¾ sleeved instead of long sleeved! So I ended up getting a white and a navy cardigan for $12 each. What a steal!

And then, of course, to complete the look I paired my mint converse sneakers with it. AHH! I just love these.

Okay, moving on to the second look – the classic look.

I decided to try my hand at dressing up the denim skirt. Denim skirts to me always seem sporty and casual, but when I got it, I knew that this coral blouse (that I picked up at TJMaxx on sale for $9) would go so well with it.

Coral and mint are one of my favorite color combinations. I knew that sneakers wouldn’t go, so I put on a pair of kitten heeled yellow sandals (that I borrowed from my Muttie) with it. And because the decoration on the sandals was silver, I added these adorable heart danglies that Muttie gave me.
