I am crazy about apples. I will eat them fresh, with peanut butter, baked, in salad…basically I will eat apples any way! And I believe that this recipe is the BEST of all. I’m not bragging when I say that the whole family loves these…it’s true!
Ingredients:
¼ cup butter (or half a stick)
4 large tart apples (I have been enjoying honeycrisp recently)
2 tsp cornstarch
½ cup cold water
½ cup maple syrup (brown sugar will work just fine)
¾ tsp cinnamon
2 pinches nutmeg
In a large skillet or saucepan, melt butter over medium heat; add apples. Cook, stirring constantly, until apples are almost tender, about 6-7 minutes. Dissolve cornstarch into the water; add to skillet. Stir in brown sugar and spices. Boil for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and serve warm.
